(New Bern Sun Journal) The way in which New Bern’s mayor and some city leaders dealt with the aftermath of deadly shootings last week has created a social media firestorm.
On March 28, New Bern Police Officer Alexander Thalmann was shot near Craven Terrace and died three days later. Another police officer, Justin Wester, was shot in the leg and was treated and released from the hospital. The suspect, Bryan “Fluke” Stallings, was killed.
The incident is still being investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation.
Since the shootings, social media platforms, including Facebook, email lists and the Sun Journal’s online comment section, have been lit up with comments from angry posters.
