Parental misconduct

By WND Staff

Hello, Joe,

Cut to the chase [regarding “Woman ‘has intercourse with student,’ and gets no jail”]. The young man was 17, not a boy. He knew what was going on. If he is a willing participant, and it sounds as though he was, the parents should have shut up and handled this differently. The parents overreacted and tainted the young man way more than the sexual relationship ever will.

As you know, there is a huge difference between rape by a man on a women and a woman on a man. As a parent, I would be very unhappy also; however, in the big picture the parents made this much worse by their response. Sometimes we need to step back and take a breath … and look ahead. If the young man was willing, then this is not rape. Sexual misconduct? Sure. But not worth the added embarrassment by overzealous parents. Unless they were looking for some cash? I wonder.

I feel bad for them all and pray there is a lesson learned for us – myself and my opinion included. Sometimes better to let a sleeping dog lie.

You write very well; keep up the good work!
