The report from Brad Conaway said the suspect was not identified, nor were details released about his injuries.

But he reported the situation developed like this:
A guest at a Motel 6 was approached by a man asking for cigarettes.
"The hotel guest said he didn't have any cigarettes. The man began to walk away, turned around and said, 'betcha ain't got one of these,' pointing a gun at the victim. The man did, however, have 'one of these' and fired at the man trying to rob him, striking him in the chest."
"Well," said a commentary at the Guns Save Lives blog, "This is pretty much right out of a bad movie."
"We don't have any information on the type of firearm used or the number of shots fired at this time," the report said. But, "This is the 12th defensive gun use we've documented in the state of Mississippi and the 1,181st defensive gun use we've documented overall."

The television station's report said the alleged armed robbery suspect was picked up by ambulance at the nearby Pines apartments, and the man who defended himself, a contractor, was "not facing any charges."
