Hate group deceives about Islamic Jew-hatred

By Pamela Geller

The Hamas-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, has responded to the ad campaign sponsored by my organization, the American Freedom Defense Initiative, or AFDI, exposing Islamic Jew-hatred with a deceptive and dishonest propaganda campaign of its own.

The CAIR ad features a smiling trio – a Jew, a Christian and a Muslim – and a Quran verse: “Verily! Those who have attained to faith, as well as those who follow the Jewish faith, and the Christians … all who believe in God and the Last Day and do righteous deeds – shall have their reward with their Sustainer, and no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve” (2:62).

What CAIR doesn’t tell you, however, is that this verse only applies, according to Islamic authorities, to Jews and Christians who convert to Islam, as is confirmed by Quran 3:85: “Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the hereafter he will be one of the losers.” The Jews and Christians (“People of the Book”) who do not become Muslims are the worst of creatures: “Verily, those who disbelieve from among the People of the Book and the idolaters, will be in the Fire of Hell, abiding therein. They are the worst of creatures” (Quran 98:6).

An early Islamic authority and cousin of Muhammad, Ibn Abbas, says this verse was abrogated by Quran 3:85: “Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the hereafter he will be one of the losers.”

CAIR knows this, and is trying to deceive gullible non-Muslims.

Oblivious to all this, Cathy Grossman of the Religion News Service and the Washington Post asked me what I thought of Hamas-CAIR’s new ad campaign that hides behind “faith” groups that are systematically persecuted and oppressed under Islamic law. She asked me: “The CAIR ad presents interfaith support for the Quran as a text that advocates peace and tolerance. Is this accurate in your view?”

I responded: “Obviously Islamic jihadists the world over don’t think that is accurate. CAIR never explains why, if the Quran advocates peace and tolerance, there are armed Islamic terror groups all over the globe that point to the Quran to explain and justify their actions, and yet apparently misunderstand its teachings. CAIR never explains why there are so very many misunderstanders of Islam. CAIR never explains why several of its own officials have been convicted for terror-related crimes – why did CAIR hire people who misunderstood the Quran? Don’t they do any screening? CAIR never explains why its cofounder and executive director, Nihad Awad, has declared his support for the jihad terror group Hamas, which frequently runs calls for genocide of the Jews on its TV station. Why would Awad endorse a group that obviously doesn’t know that the Quran teaches peace and tolerance?”

Grossman went on to ask me: “CAIR officials say they are buying the ads specifically to respond to your group’s May advertising. The CAIR press release calls your organization a hate group and you ‘a member of the anti-Muslim inner circle’ who has been ‘repudiated by interfaith leaders.’ What do you think of that characterization?”

To that I responded: “It is a calumny invented by people who are determined to discredit all foes of jihad terror, so that jihad terror can advance unopposed and unimpeded.”

Very little of this, of course, showed up in Grossman’s article. She gets much wrong – claiming, for example, that the Quran ads that CAIR ran a few months ago were in response to our Quran ads, when actually it was the other way around.

Grossman describes CAIR as “a Muslim civil liberties group,” omitting the jihad-terror convictions of various of its leaders and the organization’s Hamas ties. But Grossman prints every smear of our human-rights group as a hate group. Anyone who opposes jihad persecution and slaughter is a hater. She even added that “Rabbi Charles M. Feinberg, Congregation Adas Israel, said that because of Geller’s ‘vicious’ ads, Muslims are ‘being yelled at and disrespected.'”

Shame on “Rabbi” Charles M. Feinberg. What a betrayal of his people. What has he done to combat the vicious Islamic texts that are responsible for the unimaginable death toll of Islamic Jew-hatred over the past 1,400 years? What has this tool said or done about the vicious jihad against the Jews and the Jewish state? One can only imagine what these Islamic supremacists say about this kapo when he leaves the room.

Lies, deception, victimhood posturing – all in a day’s work for the enemedia in service of jihad.
