Joseph Farah's "Elton John, meet Jesus" made excellent arguments until he stated, "A marriage union that remains unconsummated never happened in the eyes of the law."
I've seen widows and widowers in their 70s and 80s getting married; many of them never consummate. Nor can, say, a soldier whose manhood was destroyed in war.
The key point is that they follow the pattern of the biological unit of sexual reproduction: one male, one female. Neither two males not two females can ever reproduce, no matter how perfectly the biology functions.

Further, that pattern is also the basis of two other restrictions that remain in law: a) two people b) who are not near relatives. Apart from the pattern of the biological unit of sexual reproduction, neither of these can be supported.
When talking with people who do not accept the total authority of the Bible (like Elton John), I have found this to be the strongest argument against same-sex "marriage" – and no one has ever been able to answer it.
Feel free to write a column using that point.
