(DAYTONA BEACH NEWS-JOURNAL) — DELTONA, Florida — Workers have determined a hole on the Deltona High School campus is a small sinkhole.
Brian Pohl, the Volusia County branch manager of Universal Engineering Sciences, confirmed this week that the hole is a sinkhole, but referred additional questions to the school district. He said earlier this month that his firm, which was hired to inspect the hole, found “indicators of sinkhole activity at the site.”
The affected area is fenced off and closed to school students and employees, who likely will be prohibited from using the chorus and band rooms during the first few weeks of school.
