(WSOCTV) — STALLINGS, N.C. — Airyana Renee Burdette, 20, of Charlotte was charged with child abuse after she left her 5-year-old son and a 13-year-old behind in a store Sunday night, Stallings police said.
She was also accused of shoplifting.

The store manager at the Dollar General in Stallings told Channel 9 that Burdette's purse appeared empty when she walked in, but was full when she tried to leave.
He told her and another woman that if they just put the items back, he wouldn't call the police. He said she decided to run, leaving the children behind.
"This is not what you want to see," said Stallings Police Chief Minor Plyler. "Shoplifting is one thing, but this takes it to a new level."
