(KTBC-TV) Texas Senator Ted Cruz said Tuesday he will follow through with a promise to push federal legislation to protect state laws that define marriage. This comes after this week's U.S. Supreme Court decision to let stand rulings that struck down same-sex marriage bans in five states and may over turn bans in six more states.
Senator Ted Cruz was in Austin Tuesday speaking to a group that promotes laws to prevent lawsuit abuse. While the focus of the mid-day gathering was on protecting small business, the junior Republican Texas Senator later warned the democratic process is also under attack by the highest court in the land.
"We're seeing right now an assault on traditional marriage."
