If the Republicans win back the Senate, will it really make much of a difference in the direction the country is taking? Yes, with control of both Houses of Congress, bills can get passed much easier and then sent on to Obama for him to inevitably veto. But will things really change, or will they worsen?
The best-case scenario is that with a Senate win, we can stop the bleeding that is leaving our country on life support. Perhaps, if the Republican Party can unite its forces, stop the internal bickering and put forward a strong message that will resonate with the American people, we can make some headway and make changes. Wishful thinking? One thing is for sure: The newly elected Congress must realize that they were put there to oust the Obama agenda, not to be Democrat-lite.
The worst-case scenario is that Obama will see that he has lost his lap dog, Harry Reid, who blocked or tabled nearly every bill put forward by the GOP, and proceed on his own with no discussion or regard for the legislative branch. I believe that this administration and some in the Democratic Party already know what they are going to do and have known for months. They really don't care if they retain the Senate or not since they have absolutely no respect for the rule of law or the Constitution. The only regret they may have is that they can't push through Supreme Court nominees and other judges until they regain power again; but if the GOP plays its cards right, that won't happen in 2016.

Retaining the Senate would just make things easier for the Democrats, but ultimately they know that their game plan will succeed because even with Republicans running both houses, there will be little if anything Obama can't do with intimidation and executive orders. I may sound cynical, but if you look at the track record of the GOP, they almost always cave and very rarely push back, and they can't seem to communicate with the American people. Instead of standing firm, they want to appear moderate, which is how we got where we are in the first place.

Between now and 2016 you can bet that the first and foremost thing on Obama's plate will be amnesty for millions of illegal aliens. That agenda has been set in motion for decades, and the administration will be running at high speed over the next two years to secure it in place.
I remember a chilling conversation I overheard while onboard a flight to Florida for the Republican convention in 2012. I had just boarded and was in my seat surrounded by predominantly liberal media figures, and they were weighing in on the upcoming election. I looked up from my magazine when I saw two very high-profile figures boarding. One was a California politician who has aspirations to be governor someday, and the other was a woman who runs one of the most successful websites on the Net.

They took their seats directly behind me, so I could hear their entire conversation during the flight. I'm sure they felt that they were in a friendly zone since they knew most of the media onboard – so they felt free to speak openly. The woman asked the man about his thoughts on the election, and his response was: "Once we win this election, the door will be open for the next four years to secure our position for the future. Immigration will be priority No. 1, and once we grant amnesty we will never lose again." He and she went on as though the GOP was irrelevant, gloating over the fact that the media was in their corner and they had all of the demographics going in their favor.
So, we know their ultimate goal is to saturate this country with millions and millions of immigrants that will immediately receive healthc are, education, housing, welfare and food stamps – all in return for a Democrat vote.
Unless the GOP gets its act together from Day 1, starting by presenting a clear, appealing message, and standing firm on their convictions, they may just have a two-year window of power. They may take control of the Senate, but until they take control of the narrative and hammer home the damage the Democrats have done, and set out a clear plan for the future, I don't know how we stop another President Clinton.
