(SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE) Contra Costa County’s election website went dark Tuesday morning just after the polls opened, becoming one of many sites nationwide to fall prey to a malfunction linked to a Florida software company.
The downed site made it difficult for voters in the East Bay — and elsewhere — to get information, notably the location of polling sites, a common search on election day, Contra Costa County officials said.
The crash, which also affected election websites in Ventura and Shasta counties, hit Contra Costa County about 7:30 a.m. Elections officials were not certain when, or if, the website would be back up.
