Much like the pugnacious little boy who comes home from school to complain that “little Johnny” hit him in the fist with Johnny’s nose, the Palestinian media is misrepresenting “murderers of rabbis” as “victims” of Israeli attacks.
Palestinian Media Watch, a research institute that monitors Palestinian Authority media, documented Tuesday a recent Palestinian TV report.
The Palestinian news reader said: “The latest reaction to [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s policy and means was the death of two Palestinians as martyrs from occupation police fire in West Jerusalem.”
Palestinian Media Watch, or PMW, noted the TV report did not mention the fact that the two were terrorists who murdered four rabbis and a police officer in a synagogue.
PA President Mahmoud Abbas’ official Palestinian Authority TV has presented four Palestinian terrorist murders as “martyrs,” PMW said, while Israel’s attempt to defend itself was described as “Israel’s attacks against our people.”
PMW said PA TV avoided mentioning the terror attacks altogether, referring to recent attacks in which terrorists deliberately ran people over as “accidents” and “incidents.”
“Completely ignoring the fact that two terrorists armed with guns, knives and axes murdered five people in an attack against worshipers in a Jerusalem synagogue, PA TV included their deaths in the list of ‘Israeli attacks.’ The fact that the terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli Security Forces that arrived at the synagogue was not mentioned,” the report said.
The PA TV report said: “Here are the most prominent attacks Israel carried out against our people in occupied Jerusalem in October: The death of Abd Al-Rahman Al-Shaloudi as a martyr. He was shot by the occupation after a car accident.”
But PMW noted he was a terrorist who ran over and killed two people.
The PA TV report also said Ibrahim Al-Akari became a “martyr” this month.
PMW explained he also had run over and killed two people.
Other terrorists mentioned as “victims” were Mutaz Hijazi and Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal.
PMW noted Hijazi tried to assassinate Temple Mount activist Rabbi Yehuda Glick, who nearly died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Hijazi was killed when he opened fire on an Israeli police force trying to arrest him.
Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal went into a West Jerusalem synagogue and attacked worshipers, killing four rabbis and a police officer. Seven more were injured. They were killed in a firefight with Israeli Security Forces who arrived on scene.
