(NOLA.COM) A 7-year-old boy reported he was sexually assaulted by a gym teacher at Mahalia Jackson Elementary School, authorities said Tuesday.
The student reported a male substitute physical-education teacher assaulted him at the school at 2405 Jackson Ave., in Central City, said Stan Smith, interim superintendent of the Orleans Parish School Board.
Police said in a preliminary report the allegation, which is classified as an aggravated rape, was reported at 8:39 a.m. Monday.
