(THE LOCAL) A 77-year-old man who practiced as a phoney doctor in Switzerland for 30 years while putting patients at risk was sentenced late on Monday to six months in jail by a court in Lugano in the canton of Ticino.
Vidoje “Willy” Peric, a naturalized Swiss originally from Serbia, claimed to have a medical diploma from the Belgrade military academy but could not produce an original copy, the Corriere del Ticino newspaper reported.
He treated patients in Savosa, a village near Lugano, as well as in German-speaking Switzerland and Cuba, according to the report.
