(USA TODAY) Despite citywide protests happening in the wake of the grand jury decision in the Eric Garner case, thousands gathered to watch the annual tree lighting in Rockefeller Center.
And what they got was a not-so-good performance from Mariah Carey.
The singer was originally going to tape her performance, TMZ reported. But she showed up more than three hours late to a Tuesday pre-taping because she was meeting with lawyers over her divorce from Nick Cannon, and NBC eventually nixed the plan, opting for her to sing live on Wednesday night. Carey tweeted an apology about that.
