How to save the republic from the despots in D.C.? When in America, do as the Texans do.
Rep. Dan Flynn, a member of our Texas House of Representatives, has introduced a bill. It's called the "Texas Balance of Powers Act." It would nullify any federal law that is determined to be unconstitutional by a joint legislative committee. In 2015, Republicans will control 31 state legislatures (62 percent of all states). If other states follow Flynn's lead, it starts the process of getting the Big Beast on the Potomac off our backs. After that, it would take 38 states to call a convention to consider constitutional amendments that reset the federal government to one of the people, by the people and for the people.
Thomas Jefferson wrote: "Resolved, That the several States composing the United States of America are not united on the principle of unlimited submission to their General Government; ... [W]hensoever the general government assumes undelegated powers, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force …" (Kentucky Resolutions, adopted by the Kentucky state legislature in November 1798).
