2 more years of Obama to go

By Joseph Farah

Are you prepared for two more years of Barack Obama as president?

As of tomorrow, two more years. That’s 730 days. That’s 17,520 hours.

I don’t know about you, but to me it feels like an eternity.

The countdown never seems to come to an end.

I really wonder sometimes if America can get through it without irreparable damage, maybe even the “fundamental transformation” he sought, with no going back.

Aaron Klein wrote a book in 2012 warning of what would come if Obama were re-elected. The book was called, “Fool Me Twice.” It was prophetic. It’s still worth reading today, because Obama isn’t finished. He laid out the specific plans his inner core of political arsonists had dreamed up for implementation. Obama did fool America twice with the help of a Republican Party establishment that nominated Mitt Romney, who never really offered a clear, compelling alternative to Obama.

But today we have a Republican House of Representatives and a Republican Senate.

Will Congress check Obama’s radical plans?

Will Congress take him on and hold him accountable?

Will Congress affirmatively attempt to repeal Obamacare and overturn his illegal executive amnesty program?

In other words, did the election of 2014 mean anything?

That’s the bottom-line question perplexing to the majority of Americans today. They’ve seen with their own eyes the way Obama’s policies have set the country back. They’ve seen that a continuation of those policies could be destructive to the future of America. They’ve seen the future under Barack Obama, and they have rejected it.

But will that mandate of rejection have effect?

It seems the Republican leadership in Congress is all about being non-confrontational. As Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell explained it, Republicans need to “not be scary.”

What?

The future of the country under Barack Obama is what is scary.

We need an alternative vision and fast!

If Republicans sit by without challenging Obama on everything over the next two years, there will be a lot of Republican and independent voters questioning the party’s worth in 2016 – no matter who the presidential candidate might be.

These next two years need to be the beginning of an American recovery from Barack Obama. If they are not, the 2016 election will be too little, too late.

What can light a fire under the Republican Congress to fight back with everything they have?

I’ll be honest with you. The only thing that will make that happen is a palace coup. It needs to start with Republican House members taking on their own business-as-usual leadership under House Speaker John Boehner.

They need to understand it’s in their own best interest to find new leadership and new vision. If they don’t, they will all be vulnerable in 2016. They will have to personally answer for John Boehner in less than two years. That’s not baggage I would want as a politician.

How do we get there?

There’s only one game in town. It’s the continuation of the “Dump Boehner Now!” campaign. So far, it has been responsible for generating more than 560,000 letters to House Republicans in less than a month.

It wasn’t enough to persuade Republican House members to dump Boehner on the first day of the new session. But if we can generate millions of letters in the first three months of 2015, I believe they will get the message.

If you’ve got a better idea, I’m all ears. We got close to winning the last round. Only a boycott of the vote by Democrats was enough to save Boehner.

It’s not time to pick up our ball and go home. It’s time to get back up and start swinging again.
