(Agence France-Presse) An eight-year old girl visiting her father at the New Bilibid Prisons on New Year's Day was attacked by an inmate in what authorities suspect was a rape attempt, fueling an uproar over revelations that its inmates were "living like kings" with stripper bars and jacuzzis.
Bureau of Corrections director Franklin Jesus Bucayu said a medical examination showed the victim had bruises all over her body but the suspect, Norvin Domingo, a “Bahala na Gang” member convicted of robbery with intimidation, had not succeeded in raping her.
The gang, to which the victim's father also belonged, was hosting a party for members' children.
