The birth certificate has never been the issue. The issue is “natural born” to two U.S. citizens. Obama’s father was never a U.S. citizen. End of discussion.
This position was ratified by the U.S. Senate, with Hillary Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama, along with a host of others, both as sponsors of the bill and signatories, SR 511.
While the bill is titled, “Senate Resolution Recognizing John Sydney McCain, III, is a natural born citizen,” it, in fact, recognizes and states the Senate’s recognition of the definition of a natural born citizen, by Sen Patrick Leahy, the framer, to wit: “Resolved” that it took two parents to be a “natural-born citizen.”
“Whereas John Sidney McCain, III, was born to American citizens on an American military base in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, that John Sidney McCain, III, is a ‘natural born Citizen’ under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States.”
The natural born citizen clause was added to the Constitution shortly after John Jay sent a letter to George Washington expressing concern about “foreigners” attaining the position of commander in chief.
It should be clear to any reasonable person that this concern is voiced over the potential for a conflict of allegiance for the wellbeing and very survival of our country. A person would have to have lived under a cabbage leaf for the last six-plus years to have not seen the very reason that John Jay was rightly concerned.
Since there is the standing resolution by the U.S. Senate defining the term under Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution of the United States, it clearly shows intent to define natural born citizen in such a way as to eliminate three potential president/vice president candidates for 2016 (being bandied about by the Republican Party and other pundits). Bobby Jindal, governor of Louisiana; Marco Rubio, senator from the state of Florida; and Ted Cruz, senator from the state of Texas.
No such resolution has ever been passed endorsing Barack Obama’s right to status as a “natural born citizen,” even with a solid Democratic majority in both the Senate and House of Representatives. It is conspicuous in its very absence.
The fact that Jindal, Rubio and Cruz are not eligible for the position of president or vice president does not mean that these are not intelligent (if not brilliant), patriotic men – men who clearly should hold a high position in the governance of the United States. They are, however, constitutionally ineligible for the presidency and vice presidency.
