(WPTV) — A local school bus driver says she will fight to get her job back. On Friday, the Indian River County School District released video showing her texting and driving.

In the video, you can see Viola Rhyant grab her cell phone, turn it on and read text messages. As she drives bus 295 she repeatedly looks at the road and then looks down at her phone. At one point Rhyant takes her hands off the wheel to type a message. You can see the phone light up with each letter.

“It’s distracting,” says parent Daniel Gallagher, “It’s an issue. I would be very upset.”

NewsChannel 5 spoke with Rhyant at her home in Vero Beach. She didn’t want to go on camera but told us she loves her students and would never hurt them. She says the texting happened on a dirt road. She was driving slowly and there were no other cars.
