(CNN) Two deadly attacks. A fatal police shootout. And yet another European country grappling with apparent terrorism at home.
The serenity of Denmark's capital was shattered over the weekend when a gunman opened fire at a free speech forum before shooting several people outside a synagogue and then firing at police.
Lars Vilks, a Swedish cartoonist who attended the forum and escaped unharmed, confirmed to CNN on Monday he has gone into hiding. He said he doesn't want to say when he first went into hiding and that he is not afraid. Vilks, known for his controversial depictions of the Prophet Mohammed, is on an al Qaeda hit list.
