(USA Today) A New York hedge fund manager who was running an alleged fraud went to great lengths to avoid giving investors their money back, including telling an investor he had died of a heart attack, the authorities said on Friday.

Moazzam “Mark” Malik, 33, stole close to $850,000 dollars from 16 foreign and domestic investors starting in 2011, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission complaint released Friday.
