School humiliates boy, 6, for being 1-minute tardy

(KDRV-TV) The Grants Pass School District Office received dozens of calls, Wednesday, from parents concerned about the bullying of one particular student. The mother and father of a 6-year-old boy said their son is being shamed and punished in front of his peers for something that is completely out of his control.

Hunter Cmelo is a first grader at Lincoln Elementary in Grants Pass. He was forced to sit alone at lunch behind a divider. The Grants Pass School District said the divider is part of the principal’s excessive tardy protocol. Hunter’s parents admit their son is tardy often but say it’s due to his mother’s health issues and recent car trouble.

The original Facebook post was made on the “Josephine County Neighborhood Chat” page by the boy’s grandmother. She asked fellow Facebookers to flood the school and district with phone calls.
