(DEADLINE) — It was so so close, so similar and yet so very different from last year. Last night’s Super Bowl was of course similar because it once again had the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL’s Big Game, but so different because it was far from a blowout and in the end the winners were the New England Patriots over Pete Carroll’s boys from the Emerald City 28-24.
In overnight ratings, the right down to the last minute nail biting heart-stopping drama of Super Bowl XLIX drew a 49.7/72 for NBC and the NFL. That’s the highest overnight rating in Super Bowl history and a 4% rise from last year’s 47.6/70 metered market result when Seattle won their first Super Bowl so far with a 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos.
