(OREGONLIVE) — Evergreen High School teacher Stephanie McCrea, accused of having sex with a 15-year-old student, pleaded not guilty to child rape charges at her criminal arraignment Wednesday in a Clark County courtroom.
McCrea, dressed in black and accompanied by her attorney, Steven Thayer, entered the pleas before Judge Scott Collier on a nine-count indictment of third-degree child rape, witness tampering and sexual misconduct.
She declined to speak to reporters before her court appearance. An Evergreen School District official said McCrea, 35, was suspended from her job in January -- prior to her January 27 arrest. She has taught drama and English at the district for eight years.
