Recent attacks on Pope Francis have escalated, and I find it interesting you have joined, although I am sure you mean no harm. There is nothing in Catholic teaching that says Catholics may not believe in evolution; however, they must believe that the soul of man never evolved and was a direct infusion by God Himself.
Mr. Kilpatrick is correct, and those questioning the pope on this one are mistaken. He has said nothing contrary to faith and morals. There is a faction of the Church, which I call the "holier than the Church" crowd, that feels free to condemn any pope who does not agree with their interpretation of how things must be. There are very few popes they would ascribe any holiness to, and even fewer that they believe uphold the true faith.
The left is desperate to manipulate everything Francis says and claim him as an apologist for their camp, just secretly, waiting for the opportune time to issue doctrines contrary to Church teaching. The press misquotes him, distorts his words, takes his words out of context and quotes "old friends." There is a campaign of disinformation going on, no different that what is happening in our own country.
