A poultry farm in upstate New York, right near the Canadian border, went up in flames, leaving an estimated 50,000 chickens dead.
Fire department officials in Clinton County say the fire consumed portions of Giroux's Poultry Farm in the town of Chazy, the Associated Press reported.

Dozens of emergency officials from 18 different fire departments as far away as Vermont and Quebec responded to the blaze, which took several hours to put out, AP said.

The barn was completely destroyed. Nearby buildings survived.
The cause of the fire is still not known.
