(NBC NEWS) A deadly shooting near the library of Wayne Community College sent the North Carolina college's campus into lockdown on Monday, officials said.
Wayne County Office of Emergency Services confirmed that an individual was shot in the "general library vicinity area" of Wayne Community College in Goldsboro. Goldsboro city manager Scott Stevens later told NBC News that the victim had died.
Fire Marshall Brian Taylor said police were treating the incident as an active shooter situation and searching for a suspect described as a 5'11" white male with a tattoo over his left eye and wearing a blue jacket and white-colored pants. Officials did not provide further details on the victim. saying only that multiple law enforcement officials had responded to the scene.
