Two WND columnists today – regular Bill Press and guest writer Scott Lively – take decidedly polar-opposite opinions in their commentaries regarding Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
The law, recently amended to explicitly protect homosexuals, allows courts to consider the First Amendment religious rights of those who are sued with "discrimination" complaints.
Press compares Christians supporting the law to Islamic extremists:

"Today, Islamic extremists in the Middle East behead captives in the name of Muhammad,"writes Press. "Today, Christian extremists in the United States deny service to gay and lesbian Americans in the name of Jesus, just like they once used the Bible to justify slavery and segregation."
Press declares: "Christian extremists who discriminate against anybody for any reason are not true Christians."

In the other corner is Scott Lively, an attorney, pastor and pro-family advocate, who compares the homosexual activists opposing the Indiana law to the Borg from "Star Trek" fame.
"This week, the state of Indiana met the Borg, which on planet earth is spelled LGBT," writes Lively. "Like Capt. Picard, the governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, has attempted to reason with the Borg and learned that there is no compromise with the Collective."

Lively calls the Borg analogy "a chillingly appropriate metaphor for Cultural Marxism."
