Donald Trump, millionaire businessman and possible GOP candidate for president, said if he decides to jump in the race, he’ll do what none of the others who’ve already announced will do: bring this nation back to greatness.
“All the people you’re listening to, you can forget it,” Trump said, speaking of the existing 2016 field of candidates at the New Hampshire Republican Party’s First in the Nation leadership summit in Nashua, New Hampshire, the Hill reported.
“I’m disappointed with a lot of the Republican politicians,” he went on. “Politicians are never going to solve all the problems we have. They’re too deep-seeded.”
He pointed to Mitt Romney, the party’s choice for 2012, as one example. He then added: Neither Democrats nor Republicans seemed to be putting forward a decent candidate for 2016, either.
“We don’t use our best, our brightest and our sharpest in the country anymore,” Trump said. “If I decide to run and win, I will make this country great again. Politicians aren’t going to do it, I can say with surety.”
Trump, who in the past has titillated toward a presidential run, then said he’s positive he could beat Hillary Clinton if he ran – and he was trending toward that direction.
“I think I’m going to surprise a lot of people,” he said, the Hill reported. “I’ve done really nicely when they put me in the polls.”
