In what appears to be a classic hate-crime case, a swarm of black youths were captured on video dragging a white man from a liquor store in downtown Baltimore, punching, beating and stomping him in the streets.
The Blaze reported the man may have been the owner of the liquor store, but that isn’t confirmed.
The video shows dozens of men swarming near the entryway of the liquor store, and then pulling a man from the doorway, smacking him, and hurling him to the ground. The video clip wraps with the man laying motionless on the sidewalk while dozens of the men hover over him.
The man’s medical condition as of Tuesday wasn’t known.
Violence has been sweeping through Baltimore since the funeral of Freddie Gray, a black man who died from massive spinal injuries suffered while he was in police custody. The Department of Justice recently announced agents were looking into the mid-April incident to determine if Gray’s civil rights were violated. Family members of Gray, meanwhile, said they were suing the city.
Hate crimes are those defined as those motivated by bias, particularly based on race.
