Rev. Franklin Graham has kicked off a Twitter appeal to the nation to pray for each and every Supreme Court justice, a call to spiritual arms as the hours tick in the widely awaited same-sex marriage decision.
"I'd like to pray specifically for one #SCOTUS justice each day," he tweeted. "Today would you join me in praying for Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr.?"

The appeal gathered a speedy 810 favorites and more than 300 retweets.

Graham, one of the world's best-known Christian evangelists and the head of the Samaritan's Purse, also posted the message to his Facebook page, followed by more than a million. There, he referenced a recently published USA Today opinioin piece that warned "if same-sex marriage becomes the law of the land it could have a drastic impact on Christian universities, organizations and churches. Those who operate by Christian pricniples could be severely impacted and even shut down," he wrote.
And then we went on, appealing for prayer: "God hears our prayers, and we need to pray that He will work mightily in the hearts and minds of our Supreme Court justices right now as they consider this monumental issue."

Again, Graham called for a full day of prayer for each justice. More than 45,000 liked the post and another 18,000-plus shared it.
Thirty-six states and the District of Columbia have legalized same-sex marriage. The Supreme Court is set to determine if the 14th Amendment would require that allowance be provided by all the states. Justices heard arguments on the matter on April 28 and are due to release their ruling in the coming weeks.
