Rap star and college dropout Kanye West received an honorary doctorate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, telling the crowd of black-robed graduates he was nervous, but had a promise to make: “I’m gonna make all of our lives easier,” he said.
West also cracked a bit on George W. Bush, whom he slammed during the Katrina floods of New Orleans as uncaring for black people, and commended the former president for “some very cool self portraits,” ABC News reported.
He also said, BuzzFeed reported: “I feel my nerves a bit, and I don’t feel that feeling a lot … I need to get rid of that feeling. I need to not be nervous.”
His wife, Kim Kardashian, shortly after tweeted of her pride.
“Dr. Kanye West!!!!! I’m so proud of you baby & I know your mom would be so proud too!!!!” she wrote.
