Re: "Is church too rapture-dependent?"
Dear Mr. Farah,
My name is Randall Turner. I presently work in Northern California as a security officer. I read WND every day without fail, and I encourage others to read it as well.

I was very sad to read your June 11 opinion, "Is the church too rapture-dependent?"
As a Christian, I firmly believe in a pre-trib rapture of the church. Please let me give you a short explanation of why I believe what I believe. I am not as well-educated as you, but please consider these points.

If you look at Luke 21:36, you will find the scripture tells us to watch and pray to be worthy to escape the wrath to come. In Revelations 3:10-11, we are told that because we have kept the word of His patience, he will keep us from the day of temptation. And lastly please consider this: In Revelation 19:14, John speaks about Jesus preparing for the last battle. He speaks of Jesus riding with his armies of heaven clothed in fine white linen. If you look at Revelation 19:8, John describes the bride being clothed in fine white linen, which is the righteousness of the Lord.
It seems odd that the church would be descending with Jesus when we haven't been raptured yet.

Please take a look at a paper written by someone more educated than me. There is a website that was started by pastor Tim LaHey called Pre-Trib Research Center. There you will find many papers by biblical scholars that can tell you what the Bible tells us on this subject.
There is one paper in particular that I hope you will read. It is by Dr. Mal Couch. He directly speaks to your questions on 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12.
Please, Mr. Farah, I beg you be not weary in well doing. Don't look at a lukewarm church and make rash judgments. Stand up and continue to watch for the soon call of the Bridegroom for his bride.
During this time, we should be even more encouraged in telling the truth of the saving grace of Jesus and his soon return. I have read that in days past, the preaching of the return of our glorious Savior was used as a great witnessing tool and call to salvation.
Please don't cause others to stop looking for the soon call of Jesus for his bride. That could be devastating is someone misses the rapture because of what you have said.
