(KLTV) — The fate of a controversial sign referencing Jesus in East Texas was tabled, a decision that was arrived at by council members in executive session.
In Hawkins, the city council had plans Monday night to discuss the fate of a “Jesus Welcomes You to Hawkins” sign that sits on city property, according to tax records.
On June 1, the Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) requested that the sign be taken down for violating constitutional and federal laws addressing separation of church and state.
