Mr. Obama's triumphant return to his birthplace was always going to be interesting. For Jomo Kenyatta, a former Kenyan president and father of the current president, had sacked his father, a small-time economist in the Kenyan ministry of tourism, for trying to apply Western communist values to African society.
Uhuru Kenyatta, now president of Kenya, would probably have sacked Mr. Obama Jr. if he could. For Barack Hussein, during his visit to his homeland, repudiated not only his Muslim heritage but also his African heritage by demanding so-called "gay rights" for Kenyans.
In Kenya, as in most of Africa, the biggest killer is infectious disease. Accordingly, those who willfully indulge in activities known to be likely to spread disease are heavily punished. Homosexuality is well established in the medico-scientific literature as being a particularly efficient vector of various sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.

For this very good reason, African political culture has always been strongly opposed to homosexuality, which carries a 14-year prison sentence in Kenya.
Embarrassingly, Mr. Obama chose a joint press conference with Mr Kenyatta to issue one of his whinnyingly pietistic Communism-101 lectures. This is what he said:
TRENDING: An Oxford scholar's dire warning about AI
"With respect to the rights of gays and lesbians, I've been consistent all across Africa on this. I believe in the principle of treating people equally under the law, and that they are deserving of equal protection under the law, and that the state should not discriminate against people because of their sexual orientation.
"If you look at the history of countries around the world, when you start treating people differently not because of any harm they are doing anybody but because they are different, that's the path whereby freedoms begin to erode. When a government gets in the habit of treating people differently, those habits can spread."

Mr. Obama, of course, would never dream of admitting what paper after paper in the scientific journals has made plain: that it is not "habits" but dangerous and often fatal diseases that are spread by what homosexuals do to one another. Like it or not, homosexuality causes real harm by spreading disease and death.
Even in the West, the average practicing homosexual is more likely to die before his time than a smoker. But in Africa, where all manner of infectious diseases are far more prevalent than in the West because public-health measures are largely non-existent, homosexuality is still more dangerous to the population. It is precisely because homosexuality does harm to people that it is firmly discouraged, and not just in Kenya.
The totalitarian left is eager enough to blame smoking on evil capitalist tobacco companies and to bully both smokers and those who supply them with their poison. However, the U.S. Communist Party in the 1920s, while publicly opposing homosexuality, was privately recommending to its cadres that they should promote "gay rights" as a way of undermining and destroying the family life that was at that time America's greatest strength.
Ever since then, the hard left has been relentless in advancing the cause of so-called "gays." There was never any electoral advantage in this, for "gays" represent perhaps 0.5 percent of the population – a numerically insignificant fraction. The advantage was purely political: Destroying the family would destroy the hated West.
Uhuru Kenyatta, however, was having none of Mr. Obama's Western cultural imperialism and none of his dated communistic nihilism. He told Mr. Obama: "The fact of the matter is that Kenya and the United States – we share so many values. But there are some things that we must admit we do not share, our culture, our societies don't accept. It is very difficult for us to be able to impose on people that which they themselves do not accept."

Bluntly, President Kenyatta added: "This is why I repeatedly say that, for Kenyans today, the issue of gay rights is really a non-issue. We want to focus on other areas that are day-to-day living for our people. But, as of now, the fact remains that this issue is not really an issue that is on the foremost mind of Kenyans, and that is a fact."
Though the tone was a fine instance of the relentless diplomatic politesse that is a notable hallmark of Kenya's present president, his remarks were a decisive slap in the face for the bleating Mr. Obama, who traveled from Kenya to Hawaii with his American mother within days of his birth in a village near Mombasa in August 1964.
But don't rush to find Mr. Obama's I-94 immigration docket. The National Archives can give you every I-94 card for every person arriving in Hawaii on every single day throughout 1964, except for the week of Mr Obama's alleged Hawaiian birth. For his alleged birth date and for exactly three days before and exactly three days after it, all of the I-94 records for Hawaii are unaccountably and uniquely missing from the archive.
When Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Phoenix, Arizona, sent his investigators to the National Archives to find the missing records, the archivists were calculatedly unhelpful. For the left has always believed in rewriting inconvenient history, so the missing I-94 records have been sent down the memory hole.

No surprise, really, that Sheriff Arpaio is now being bullied by the Obama administration on specious grounds, with the lamentable assistance of a corrupt, over-politicized "Democrat" judge, who recently sent federal marshals to raid the sheriff's office in the hope of dredging up, or trumping up, some evidence that will lead the voters to replace him with a less turbulent sheriff in 2016.
Rightly, the sheriff is less concerned with whether Mr. Obama was born in Kenya (for no record of his birth there is available: Like just about all records of his early life, it is missing or otherwise unavailable) as with the fact that his manifestly forged "birth certificate," an in-your-face fraud, remains brazenly on view at the White House website.
For this reason, Mr. Obama was in no position to lecture his fellow-Kenyans on the need to clean up the notorious corruption in the African bureaucracy (not that that stopped him, for he preached about that, too). For the notorious corruption in the Washington bureaucracy is all too self-evident.
What of the Secret Service, whose job is to protect the presidency against usurpers and to identify forged official documents and prosecute their perpetrators? Why has the FBI done nothing, either? Why is Congress mute? Corruption, that's why. Everyone knows the White House "birth certificate" is a forgery. But no one will lift a finger to do anything about it.
Mr. Obama has yet to learn that the days of Western cultural imperialism are over. Until infectious diseases are as well controlled in Africa as they are in the West, Africans will rightly not regard homosexuality as in any way acceptable. Until corruption in Mr. Obama's administration is rooted out, Africa will rightly resist any lectures from Mr. Obama on that subject as well. And that, as the urbane Mr. Kenyatta would put it, is a fact.
