(DETROIT FREE PRESS) — A fifth-grade teacher at Novi Meadows Elementary – who had been caught stealing funds from the school five years ago – has been charged with allegedly having inappropriate contact with students.
After at least two months of investigation by Novi Police, the Oakland County prosecutor has charged Tom Peronis with one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Peronis was arraigned at 52-1 District Court in front of Magistrate Andra Richardson, who ordered him held on $10,000, 10-percent cash/surety bond.

This charge stems from a Novi Police two-month investigation. It was made public in May by Novi Community Schools after officials were told of it by Novi Police. David Molloy, director of public safety/chief of police for Novi, at the time said two girls police interviewed as part of the case were 10 and 11.
