Donald Trump, the billionaire businessman who’s running for president – and a candidate who once morphed from pro-choice to pro-life – has come out in support of a bill on Capitol Hill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks, except in cases of medical emergency.

In a statement sent to the Brody File on CBN, Trump wrote: “I support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and urge Congress to pass this bill. A ban on elective abortions after 20 weeks will protect unborn children. We should not be one of seven countries that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks. It goes against our core values.”

Trump’s also announced support for defunding Planned Parenthood, on the heels of video showing the organization is tied to sales of body parts from aborted babies.

Trump has made quite a morphing on abortion in recent years. In an interview with the Brody File in 2011, he explained his switch as coming from personal experience.

“One of the reasons I changed, one of the primary reasons, a friend of mine’s wife was pregnant. In this case, married. She was pregnant and he didn’t really want the baby. And he was telling me the story. He was crying as he was telling me the story. He ends up having the baby and the baby is the apple of his eye. It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him. And you know, here’s a baby that wasn’t going to be let into life. And I heard this, and some other stories, and I am pro-life.”
