I am a registered independent, and I generally vote Republican. The sad truth is I have not voted in years because I have not felt there was a distinction amongst any of candidates at a state or local level. I and many others have turned our backs on both parties because we are tired of the same candidates being put in front of us year after year and decade after decade.
This is the first year I feel excited to vote because I feel issues are being discussed. Why are they being discussed? Because Donald Trump has forced the discussion. I do not agree with everything Donald Trump says, but I appreciate his candor and his desire to make America great again. The standard GOP candidates that are marched out in front of us like Stepford wives all have same sanitized bullet points that have been approved by political consultants and statisticians. The political class in this country views all of us as nothing more than statistical data that can be grouped and headed into categories for which perfectly worded talking points can be developed, which in turn will make us feel satisfied.
The voting public should be outraged, outraged that the media establishment thinks we the American people, the people that watch their networks, that buy their magazines etc. are completely incapable of making up our own minds without their guidance. I hope this election we the people take back what is ours, right or left, Democrat or Republican. We need to all go out and vote and demand candidates that WE want, not that the media machine, big business and career politicians THINK we want.
