(London Telegraph) Three Americans and a British businessman are being hailed around the world as heroes after they were able subdue and disarm a gunman on a train travelling from Amsterdam to Paris.
Spencer Stone, the American Air Force pilot who tackled the gunman and sustained multiple injuries, has been released from the hospital.
Mr Stone’s travel companions, who followed his lead in confronting the gunman, were unhurt, and said he probably saved many lives.
Chris Norman, a Brit, helped pin the terrorist down and tie him up. He said in a press conference that his actions had been motivated “purely by survival”.
“I figured, I’m probably going to die anyways, so let’s go…. Either you sit down and you die, or you stand up and you die,” he said in a press conference.
The gunman has now been identified as Ayoub El-Khazzani, who travelled to Syria within the last year and may have ties to a terrorist group.
