Though this was uploaded in 2012, a video of a four-year-old Vietnamese boy performing the Catholic Mass was rediscovered on Facebook this week. If you have attended Mass, you will be familiar with the procedure and more than that, you’ll be amazed at the fidelity with which this precious child celebrates the entire 18-minute sacrament of the Eucharist.
According to the boy’s father, little Thuan learned to celebrate Mass in English and Latin by watching daily Mass on EWTN, a global Catholic television, Catholic radio and Catholic news network that provides Catholic programming and news coverage from around the world both on cable and online. EWTN is an acronym for Eternal Word Television Network.

You’ve probably seen it posted on the Internet, perhaps even several times:
The ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ poster was designed by the British Ministry of Information during the period 27 June – 6 July 1939. According to Wikipedia, it was produced as part of a series of three “Home Publicity” posters (the others read “Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution Will Bring Us Victory” and “Freedom Is in Peril. Defend It With All Your Might”).
Each poster showed the slogan under a representation of a “Tudor Crown” (a symbol of the state).
The posters were intended to be distributed to strengthen morale in the event of a wartime disaster, such as mass bombing of major cities using high explosives and poison gas, which was widely expected within hours of an outbreak of war.

Not just for coffee!
I just love helpful household and workroom hints, don’t you? For example, here are 25 ways you can use coffee filters, cheap at the price at discount dollar stores. Can you come up with more ways to use them?
- Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome. Coffee filters are lint-free so they’ll leave windows sparkling.
- Protect China by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish.
- Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter.
- Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.
- Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter.
- Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.
- Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.
- Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods.
- Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant pot. Line a plant pot with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes.
- Prevent a Popsicle from dripping. Poke one or two holes as needed in a coffee filter.
- Do you think we used expensive strips to wax eyebrows? Use strips of coffee filters.
- Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them. It soaks out all the grease.
- Keep in the bathroom. They make great “razor nick fixers.”
- As a sewing backing. Use a filter as an easy-to-tear backing for embroidering or appliqueing soft fabrics.
- Put baking soda into a coffee filter and insert into shoes or a closet to absorb or prevent odors.
- Use them to strain soup stock and to tie fresh herbs in to put in soups and stews.
- Use a coffee filter to prevent spilling when you add fluids to your car.
- Use them as a spoon rest while cooking and clean up small counter spills.
- Can use to hold dry ingredients when baking or when cutting a piece of fruit or veggies. Saves on having extra bowls to wash.
- Use them to wrap Christmas ornaments for storage.
- Use them to remove fingernail polish when out of cotton balls.
- Use them to sprout seeds.. Simply dampen the coffee filter, place seeds inside, fold it and place it into a plastic baggie until they sprout.
- Use coffee filters as blotting paper for pressed flowers. Place the flowers between two coffee filters and put the coffee filters in phone book..
- Use as a disposable “snack bowl” for popcorn, chips, etc.

“After a two year search for a globe for my father’s 80th birthday present I was faced with a choice of a modern political globe (albeit frequently available with a generous dose of sepia colouring), very fragile expensive antique models, which you can’t really use on a daily basis or trying to make my own,” explains Peter Bellerby. “So the original plan, hatched in a pub in Kings Cross, was to make just two, one for Dad, one for me. It would probably take three, maybe four months and cost a few thousand pounds. After all how difficult can it be to make a ball and put a map on it?”
