In the past month, the political power brokers have been watching, aghast, the rise of Donald Trump as a potential GOP contender. Left and right alike have been horrified at the thought of this brash, crude, vulgar man leading our nation. "Lousy hair, declared bankruptcy multiple times, marries and divorces supermodels, and doesn't know any words over two syllables," noted a critic. "Oh, and he's currently worth about 9 billion."
Why would the name of a man who is not a politician and is totally unfamiliar with the niceties of political correctness suddenly be on everyone's lips? Professional politicians and the mainstream media pretend to be stumped and dismayed at this boorish lout's wave of approval from the great unwashed masses.
Speaking as one of the great unwashed, I can easily explain his popularity. Trump entertains. He's brash, he's crude, he's vulgar, he breaks all the rules, he's unafraid and unrepentant, and he is the antithesis of political correctness. It's been hilarious to watch the talking heads squirm when confronted by "The Donald."

Personally, I haven't had so much fun with politics in, well, ages. It's an absolute hoot watching Trump poke his finger in the eyes of all the bloviating politicians, who must stumble and stutter through their politicalese speech in response to his clear no-nonsense bull-by-the-horns style. As I said, politics hasn't been this fun in ages.
Conservatives seem to be split in their opinions. Some think he's a goofball, a blowhard and an idiot. Others view him as a serious contender unafraid to tackle the proverbial herd of elephants in the room.

So why is "The Donald" resonating with folks in Flyover Country? Simple. We elected a majority of Republicans in Congress in 2014; and what did they do? They betrayed our trust and our wishes, and immediately caved to the president's progressive agenda. We didn't like that.
Republicans have a lot to answer for to the people. They promised to "get tough" on a variety of issues and keep the Democrats from dismantling the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Then, as usual, the moment they got into office they began to plead their weak inability to stop those awful nasty Democrats, while holding out their hands and asking for more money and votes to stop the awful nasty Democrats. Blah blah blah. Repeat repeat repeat.

Yet critics have the gall to dismiss Trump's blunt approach to serious issues because they say we need more "serious debate." Trouble is, politicians have been "seriously debating" this stuff for the last 30 years. We don't need debate, we need action. And whatever else you can say about Trump, you must admit he's a man of action. He gets things done and isn't too fussy about how.
The reason why Trump is getting every politician mad – both Democrats and Republicans – is he exposes them. With a few verbal strokes, he strips them naked. He showcases their namby-pamby wishy-washiness and contrasts it with his vulgar, brash – but honest – approach. In a sea of choking lies, Trump's truth is a breath of fresh air.
As WND pointed out, "The businessman built his substantial lead by doing just the opposite of the wisdom dictated by the GOP elite."
Trump is in a unique position. He can actually say whatever he wants, however he wants, with no repercussions. A career politician builds his base by kissing butt. Trump doesn't need to do that. He is influenced by nobody's bribery (though, as he cheerfully points out, his "donations" have influenced many a politician). He's rich enough to tell critics to go to hell. When a news agency threatens to withdraw support, he's rich enough to buy his own news agency and dominate the airwaves. That, my friends, is the American dream.
I'm not certain I like Trump the man, but I must grudgingly admire Trump the candidate.

By now, it should be apparent to even the densest politician and news reporter that Trump's popularity is based on his candid willingness to address political issues in politically incorrect ways. "Many Republican voters are so disgusted with their party, especially over its repeated betrayals of them, and of the country, especially when it comes to immigration, that they are immediately attracted to anyone who voices the outrage they feel," said Thomas Sowellin a column pointing out why Trump is not the kind of president we need.
What would "The Donald" have done if he were in charge of reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran? Unlike the feckless Kerry, who began the negotiations with an unbeatable hand and left with an empty bag, Trump is a proven deal maker. Note I said deal maker, not a deal loser. Trump jauntily admits making "donations" to New York liberals when it advances his entrepreneurial needs. And with over a dozen major high rises, hotels and other buildings owned or operated by Trump in New York City alone, apparently his pay-to-play system works.
To the Republican elite, listen carefully: If you want to see the end of the Trump phenomenon, then you had better wake up and learn from him. We are sick and tired of your cowardice, your pandering and your appeasement. You caved on Obamacare. You caved on amnesty. You caved on marriage. You caved on regulatory growth, on environmental over-reach and on border security.

And even with a no-brainer sure-fire win to defund Planned Parenthood (now proven to be baby-killers-for-profit) Republicans can't stand on their own two feet. When Jeb Bush told an evangelical conference, "I'm not sure we need half a billion dollars for women's health issues" and was promptly blasted by Hillary for his (ahem) cruelty, he immediately backed down and said he "misspoke."
Who sounds more like presidential material to you?
My advice to the Republicans who so desperately want to shut Donald Trump up: CATCH A CLUE. The reason he's resonating with the American public is because we've had it with your appeasing ways. We're tired of your unfulfilled promises, your weakness, your lies, your ineffectiveness and your "misspeaks."
People of all stripes are sick of career politicians who have sold us down the river time and time again. Trump is shaking the foundation of the RINO establishment from every direction – and if there's any man alive who knows how to build something solid on a broken foundation, it's Donald Trump.
That's why he's fun to watch.
