Hate-crime charge for abortion-clinic vandalism

(NOLA.COM) A man accused of removing signs at a Metairie abortion clinic was arrested and booked with committing a hate crime. William Kennedy, 27, of 5816 Ruth St., Metairie, was also booked with simple criminal damaged valued between $500 to $50,000, according to a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Kennedy is accused of stealing signage from Causeway Medical Clinic, 3044 Ridgelake Drive, Metairie, during the early morning hours of Aug. 1, an incident report said. In surveillance footage, a man is seen driving a Chevy vehicle onto the property just before 1 a.m. and pulling metal lettering off the building, the report said.
