(MACON) — PLAINS — An overflow crowd of worshipers from across America flocked to former President Jimmy Carter’s hometown church for his Sunday school class.
The gathering of more than 500 people comes on the heels of Carter’s recent announcement that he has cancer.
Congregants began lining up outside Maranatha Baptist Church before midnight in hopes of securing a seat in a sanctuary that holds about 300.
