The FBI has sent an alert out to law enforcement agencies in Colorado and Wyoming warning Middle Eastern men have approached the families of military members and asked them suspicious questions.
The alert says the men have actually knocked on the doors of military families in Greeley, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming, CBS News reported.
In one instance, a wife of a military member said she was at her residence when two Middle Eastern men approached her and stated she was married to an interrogator. She denied that claim and they laughed and drove off in a dark-colored sedan, the FBI reported.
“The woman had observed the vehicle in the neighborhood on previous occasions,” the FBI’s alert said.
A handful of other similar incidents were reported in Wyoming in the last several weeks, the FBI said.
The alert states: “On numerous occasions, family members of military personnel were confronted by Middle-Eastern males in front of their homes. The males have attempted to obtain personal information about the military members’ family members through intimidation. The family members have reported feeling scared.”
The FBI said agents aren’t sure if all the reported incidents are related.
