(Corpus Christi Caller-Times) A former King High School teacher about to stand trial on accusations she had sex with a student is accused of being intimate with another student.
Tanya Ramirez, 31, was indicted Thursday on a second charge of having an improper relationship between an educator and student, a second-degree felony. The charge is punishable by as much as 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Ramirez previously was offered a plea deal for deferred adjudication probation, which would have allowed her to avoid a conviction. She rejected the deal because prosecutors wanted to impose conditions she disagreed with, including pleading guilty instead of no contest and surrendering her teaching license, her lawyers have said.
