(New York Post) A downtown police captain wants to push the hot-dog vendors who surround the World Trade Center further from the site because their carts could be used to hide explosive devices.
Capt. Leighton Myrie, head of the NYPD's World Trade Center Command, raised the possibility of a hot-dog terror plot at a Community Board 1 committee meeting last week, and said he wants to expand the existing "no-vending zone" a block in each direction.
Currently, vendor carts are restricted as far as Vesey Street to the north and Liberty Street to the south.
