Jonathan Cahn preaches a message at the Capitol earlier this year.
From his father's harrowing escape from Nazi Germany to his once-staunch atheism to his authorship of "The Harbinger" (which appeared on the New York Times bestseller list for more than 100 weeks despite virtually no secular media coverage), the question of just who Jonathan Cahn is has finally been answered.
He's "America's Prophet," and his incredible life and work are featured in the new documentary "The Harbinger Man: The Jonathan Cahn Story."

"After hearing his core message, one I heard and read before a thousand times, it suddenly had new meaning for me," said Joseph Farah, founder and CEO of WND. "There's timeliness to what Jonathan Cahn writes and preaches: either we take notice and turn from our wicked ways, or face the death of a once godly nation.
"He doesn't like to be called a prophet, but if he is not a prophet for our time then I don't know the definition of a prophet."

And what is the core message of Cahn? This was a man who said of himself, "If there was a vote in high school, I'd be the one voted least likely to talk about God."

He made his message quite clear in his address at the 2015 "Washington: A Man of Prayer" service at the U.S. Capitol:
"Day one. George Washington lays his hand on the Bible in the capital city. And America as we know it comes into existence. He then enters halls of Congress, delivers his first ever presidential address. And in the first words ever spoken by an American lies a prophetic warning to this nation.
"Only two civilizations in human history came into existence dedicated from conception to the will and purposes of God. The first was called 'Israel.' And the second was called 'America.' America was to be a city on a hill, a light to the world – from the words of the Jewish rabbi from Nazareth. And God blessed this nation as no nation has ever been blessed to unparalleled heights of prosperity and power.
On America's first day came a prophetic warning. It was this: "The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself hath ordained." In other words, if America ever turns away from God, if it ever disregards the Word and ways of God, then the smiles of heaven, the blessings of God, will be removed from this land."
One of the people in attendance during Cahn's stirring address was former Rep. Michele Bachmann, who said, "When I read 'The Harbinger' for the first time, I knew immediately what was written was true. The words struck a chord of recognition in my soul. As a member of Congress and as a long-term believer in Jesus Christ, I knew also the tenor of the times we lived in. Cahn was saying either in pride we can defy God and see us going, as a nation, further into decline, or we can, as a nation, repent and follow a path of obedience to him."

"The Harbinger Man: The Jonathan Cahn Story" has one underlying message, which serves as the reason so many flock to Cahn: hope in salvation for the nation through repentance.
"Someone from the book industry said 'We can't figure it out,'" said Cahn. "It doesn't go into a regular category of books; why has it done like this? We believe it's been because of the Lord, it's totally in his hands. God is a god of compassion and he warns before he acts."
