How is the U.S. going to cut down on "provocation" that leads to terrorist attacks inside Israel?
According to reports this weekend, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has pushed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to prohibit Jews and Christians from praying on the Temple Mount, considered the holiest site inside Israel's capital, while permitting only Muslim prayers.
What do you think? That should stop the attacks, right? It must have been the prayers of Jews and Christians on the Temple Mount that incited Arab Muslims from launching a wave of attacks on Israelis in recent weeks. Even though Muslims have used the al-Aqsa Mosque atop the Temple Mount as the launching pad for attacks on tourists and Israeli citizens alike, apparently the prayers of those same Muslims and their clerics represent nothing but a calming influence.
That's the way Kerry and the Obama administration see it. If we can just stop Jews and Christians from praying provocatively, Arab Muslims will renounce terrorism.
I don't know. Is it just me or does this seem like a reward for terrorism?
That pretty much represents the Obama-Kerry policy in the Middle East.
When Muslims fire thousands of rockets from Gaza into Israel, the prescription from the Obama administration is for Jews in the only Jewish state in the world to stop building homes for Jews in their nation's capital. Does that make sense?
When Muslims riot atop the Temple Mount and throw rocks at Jews and tourists, the prescription from the Obama administration is a moratorium on Jewish and Christian prayer. Does that make sense?
When Muslims launch what they call the third Intifada, or uprising, stabbing Jews and tourists randomly on the streets of Jerusalem and other cities in Israel, the prescription of the Obama administration is for Israel to resume negotiations to hand over more Jewish land in exchange for "peace." Does that make sense?
None of it makes sense.
In fact, those rockets fired last year on Israel came from territory handed over to Arab Muslims in exchange for "peace." Israelis got no peace. They uprooted well-established Jewish communities and businesses from Gaza in exchange for a promise of peace and got a rocket attack bigger than the one launched by Adolf Hitler against England in World War II.
"All the violence and the incitement to violence must stop," said Kerry in announcing the no-pray zone for Jews. "Leaders must lead."
As someone headed to Israel in the next few days, I'm very disappointed. Why?
Prayer is not provocation. Prayer is not leading to violence on the Temple Mount, in Israel or anywhere else. And, most of all, the only reason Jewish and Christian prayer is offensive to Arab Muslims is because they are uttered by Jews and Christians.
Just how far would Kerry and Obama bend over backward to appease the bloodthirsty Muslim terrorists who seek only one thing – the eradication of the only free state in the Middle East and the only Jewish state in the Middle East?
Kerry and Obama would make Neville Chamberlain blush.
For its part, Israel wants to install surveillance cameras in the Temple Mount in hopes of persuading Muslims and the rest of the world that the Jewish state is doing nothing to provoke violent attacks up there – not even praying.
Allow me to explain why this idea is doomed to failure.
The Arab Muslims already know Israel is doing nothing to provoke their violence and terrorism. And the rest of the world just doesn't care. The rest of the world is determined to disenfranchise Israel and reward terrorism by turning over more and more Jewish real estate to Arab Muslims so they can create the first-ever "Palestinian state" in the history of the world.
Apparently Obama and Kerry believe creating one more Muslim terrorist state is the key to peace on earth.
If it wasn't all so absurdly tragic, I would have to laugh out loud.
