(PIERCE PIONEER) — Whole Foods Market is recalling cheese fearing the products may have been contaminated with organism Listeria monocytogenes that causes serious fatal infections in young children, elderly and frail people.
The cheese is being recalled from all the stores nationwide that sourced from the supplier.
To assist consumers, the company reminds consumers that the cheese product included in the recall was cut and packaged in clear plastic wrap and sold at the deli counter, labeled with the Whole Foods Market scale sticker. They advise, again, that they chose to issue the recall after routine samplings of the product by the US Food and Drug Administration confirmed contamination with the Listeria monocytogenes in a single, whole, uncut wheel of the same cheese that had already been packaged.
