Jane Chastain laments that the elected elephants in the majority are still not following the will of the voters that put them there, to rein in the excesses of government in virtually any area. Time to wake up.
Conservatives, especially Christian ones, have been duped by this for the past 40 years! We fall for it over and over and over, because our nature is trusting of those who are "like us" even while we loudly profess our distrust of government. Some of us have wised up, though, and joined the Constitution Party instead. Reforming the Republicans is never going to happen; people have been trying for literally decades.
Clean the barn? Absolutely. How about some voting reform so that we don't shoot ourselves in the foot while doing so? There's zero reason we should be stuck with a system that is provably broken, when there are good alternatives like Condorcet. There's zero reason to vote "R" when the "R" team back stabs us in return. Obviously, "D" is not an option. Since there's not a dime's worth of difference between those, why not pull the "C" lever? The "R" choice is the TRUE wasted vote. Lesser-of-two-evils is not gaining us a thing. Those in the tea party wing would do well to learn from history.
